Getting Started

I’ve been planning to write a blog for ages and I’ve found that getting started is actually the hardest part. I’ve had ideas of what I want it to be about, how I want it to look, how I want to be be inspiring and well read, I’ve looked at other blogs to get a feel for what I like and don’t like and I’ve still procrastinated. I think I’ve been too attached to getting it absolutely perfect, instead of just getting on with it.

One of the main intentions is for it to be a place where I can share my reflections and experiences, to step out of my comfort zone and to motivate and inspire others to maybe do the same.

I also want it be a personal account of my move to London as a kind of journal that will capture how my life is changing and with this in mind, and through conversations with friends and fellow coaches, I’ve decided that a large part of this blog will be a record of me breaking away from the familiar and stepping into the unknown.

I’ll definitely be exploring new opportunities, meeting new people, trying something that may be completely out of my comfort zone, discovering and exploring London and generally having more fun and being more adventurous. For the posts that are about the new things I’m trying, as I’ll be turning 50 in just under 2 years, I’m planning to try 50 new things before I’m 50 so will name and number them whenever they’re posted. All suggestions of what to include and attempt are welcome.

  1. Hi Jackie,

Only just found your blog (via your Brilliant Newsletter) and think this post is excellent. I too find it hard to get started writing but when I get into the flow I really enjoy it.

  2. Hi Jackie as someone who is going to be 50 on Saturday I have been thing about your challenge with a rye smile on my face. Cycling around the velodrome would be fun and challenging along with walking over the O2. Both very London, possible yet challenging. Another more sedate activity would be to visit every garden square and park in Zone 1. A few to consider while I think about what I will challenge myself to do before I am 60!! Love the mewsletter

  3. Hi Jackie, loving your newsletter and the new blog, look forward to reading your posts. One of the 50 things to do , would be climbing up a wall at the local climbing center, lll come with you , it s on my list too as you know 🙂 and it s sometimes better to do things together 🙏✨🌞 Lots of love, di xx

  4. HI Jackie,
great to get your newsletter today and brilliant to here you are looking at new horizons, how wonderful to have that opportunity.

For one of your things to do I suggest doing a performance. I recently took up playing the uke (very trendy) and have done my first public performance all on my own and it was so scary but I felt a million dollars afterwards. One off my bucket list. Now plan to sing a song in front of everyone!! Poor people!
all the very best with everything new
    Julie Hughes xx
